FAQs for a miniature model maker

Our most-asked question and, to be fair, the most logical one. The short answer is: with a great deal of care, and skill. 

We’ve covered the longer answer in our How We Work page, but in a nutshell:

From sharp-focused images and pictures of the façade of your home – including any close-up details you wish us to highlight – we’ll produce a complete set of technical drawings. We’ll then:

• Confirm the size of your model and picture frame 
• Email you our drawings for your approval
• “Break down” the drawing into “layers”  
• Use chemical etching, laser cutting and/or 3-D printing to produce each intricate part. Each element will be precisely to size. 
• Materials used include resins, brass and model clay (for hand-crafted, fine-detail elements), which we glue together and colour-spray or paint to create exquisite perfection
• Your bespoke frame, made from solid hardwood and/or – we can advise on your best choice – will flatter the end results perfectly

(We wouldn’t usually spoil the surprise, but if you’re based further outside the UK, we’d be happy to email you an image of your finished model house before shipping.)

Where there’s clamour and noise, we’d love you, your family and loved ones to slow down and appreciate the finer things in life, courtesy of your very own little house: tiny flowers in pots by a front door; the knots and whorls on a wooden gate; even a much-loved dog or cat at the front window keeping an eye on the world.

They make lovely presents and are an ideal wedding gift or a way to remember the way things were if you’re relocating elsewhere in the world.

On a more practical level, we can scale up, with highly detailed architectural models to property developers for investment projects.

The sizes will vary, depending on the dimensions of the project in question. 

However, most models are the equivalent of A4, A3, or A2 size – say 1:100 or 1:200. As you can imagine, within reason, your wish is our command. Let’s talk about what you’ve set your heart on, then we can adapt the measurements to your needs.

We design and construct our models as high-quality, forever pieces.

You will be making an investment in something that draws the eye and charms the soul for years to come. Equally, as a way to remember somewhere or someone  special. And, of course, as a one-of-a-kind legacy for the generations yet to be born, coming up after you. 

Indeed, no. 

If it’s a building, we can create an outstandingly stunning smaller version of it, precisely and exactly to scale. Think: historically famous buildings anywhere in the world, theatres, museums, hotels and restaurants, rows of fine Georgian houses – no doubt you’ll have more ideas.

Don’t forget: Little House London also creates interiors. If you have a special room that you’d like to preserve in your memory for ever, do get in touch. 

And – just while we’re here, your model can have teeny tiny LED lighting to bring it to life.

Within the UK, and internationally. We’ve built our miniature models for posterity and longevity, so please don’t be concerned about how robust they may be in transit. Believe us, whilst finely detailed they’re still, well… bulletproof, created to the highest standards. 

With artisan acrylic frames, they’ll arrive at your doorstep in perfect condition.
